Welcome to the Traceability and Trade Project

Traceability technology stands to facilitate the regulation of international trade in ways that are more efficient, cost-effective, and inclusive. Australia, as a significant agricultural exporter, has an interest in encouraging equitable and harmonised global regulatory architecture based on interoperable systems and approaches.

This project is dedicated to tracking and understanding the interface between traceabilty and trade – what is, what is emerging, and what could be in the future. We are researching global innovations in traceability, their regulation, and their interface with international trade rules. The project is hosted at UNSW Law & Justice and the fantastic team is led by Professor Lisa Toohey.

The UNSW Traceability and Trade Project is funded by an Australian Government Category 1 Public Funding – specifically the National Agriculture Traceability Grants Program. The grant program aims to strengthen the agricultural sector through technological innovation.
